Obama's approval numbers hit all-time law

 President Barack Obama's approval rating sank to a new low Friday.
just 40 percent of Americans say they approve of Obama's performance as president.That is down three percent points from Thursday.50 percent say they do not approve of the job he is doing.

The poor rating comes amidst an increasingly chaotic debate over raising the debt ceiling, as the deadline to raise it or risk the government defaulting on its debts looms.

Just 41 percent of the public said they approved of the way Obama was handling the debt-ceiling negotiations, while 52 percent disapproved, according to another Gallup poll released Thursday. Nonetheless, Obama still polls better than congressional leadership. Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid both received even lower approval rates.

The president’s 40 percent approval rating follows a Pew Research Center for the People and the Press poll released Thursday that found Obama’s support among independents has eroded a great deal. 54 percent of independents disapprove of Obama’s performance as president, according to the Pew poll, the most during his time in office. Just 36 percent approve of the job he is doing.

Obama has also lost ground against a generic Republican challenger — getting 41 percent of the vote when matched with an unnamed Republican who polled 40 percent.

Obama’s approval rating is below that of former President Bill Clinton’s lowest approval rating during the government shutdowns of 1995. At the very end of the shutdown, Clinton’s approval rating was down at 42 percent, but quickly rebounded back to over 50 percent. His lowest approval rating ever was 37 percent in mid June of 1993.

iPhone 5 rumors:big screen,better reception,contoured body.

iphone 5 rumors continues to churn today over images posted this week by British cellphone blog Mobile Fun. The site says the pictures come from a “design document for an iPhone 5 case,” apparently leaked from a Chinese manufacturer, as well as a mockup of a second iPhone 5 case, which it says comes from a different manufacturer.
First up: the display. These new images appear to show a 4-inch display (the current iPhone’s is 3.5 inches) housed in the same-sized body. The bezel is almost entirely gone; the screen stretches from edge to edge and nearly from top to bottom. The images also appear to show an oval-shaped, touch-sensitive area along the phone’s bottom border, in the space occupied by the physical home button on the current iPhone. This squares with an earlier rumor from tech site Thisismynext, which reported that the home button could be doing “double duty” as a gesture area.

Mobile Fun’s images also appear to confirm an earlier rumor that the iPhone 5 will have a redesigned body. The case drawings show a back panel that curves around the edges to meet with the front, a design that’s much closer to that of the iPod Touch than the iPhone 4.

One of the images also shows a curious cutout on the back of the case, right where the Apple logo sits on the iPhone 4. Mobile Fun suggests that this cutout indicates the antenna will be on the back of the iPhone 5 – perhaps incorporating the logo itself as part of the antenna – rather than running along the side of the handset, as it does in the iPhone 4. Such a redesign would likely come as a relief to anyone who found their iPhone 4 dropping calls due to the widely-publicized “death grip” issue, a result of the phone’s side antenna. The window could also be a simple vanity play; some people like to show off that they're holding an iPhone.

Although the iPhone 5 rumors are piling up, we still don’t have a date for when the new device will actually appear. The gossip site MacRumors reported Wednesday on a prediction that the next-gen handset could appear the second week in September, but Steve Jobs hasn’t portentously booked the Moscone Center for any announcements (yet).

The cast of the hit vampire series was recently at San Diego Comic-Con, where Skarsgard reportedly left a party with an unnamed brunette, according to the weekly.

Bosworth and Skarsgard will appear together in the upcoming thriller "Straw Dogs," which is slated for release on September 16, 2011.

Kat Williams Arrested ,Tractor Driver Altercation Leads to Jail.

Celebrity Crime Beat-Katt William was arrested in California this weekend, the comedian got into an altercation with a man driving a tractor according to TMZ. The report reveals that Williams allegedly used his SUV and blocked a man from leaving after he was allegedly assaulted while on his tractor. The man claims he was attacked by three women , and police were called. TMZ explains: "The man, who says he suffered facial injuries in the attack, called his wife to pick him up -- but when she arrived, Katt pulled up in an SUV and blocked their exit.   That's when the man called 911. The L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. quickly arrived to the scene -- arrested the women for assault with a deadly weapon and busted Katt for felony intimidating a witness. Katt was hauled to a nearby station, where he was booked.

It sold 15 million copies in the first 24 hours following its release, including more than 11 million in the U.S. and UK alone. The novel has also been translated into over 120 languages, including Ukrainian, Swedish, and Hindi.

Major themes in the novel are death and living in a corrupted society, and critics have compared them to Christian allegories. Shark Attack Survivor Lucy Mangum

A girl was attacked by a Shark last weak in just 18-inches of water.She was six years old.
Lucy Mangum, from North Carolina, is recovering from a shark attack at Ocracoke Island that was so severe that the doctors lost count of how many stitches she had to get.  “It bit my leg and it felt like it almost stayed there,” Lucy explained.

Her mom – who was standing just a few feet away, watching Lucy and sister playing on their boogie boards – recalled the terrifying attack.

    “I heard her scream, so I immediately turned towards her,” mom Jordan Mangum said. “And at that point, saw the shark right next to her. So I immediately recognized it as a shark and ran towards her, and at this point, it didn’t really cross my mind that she had been bitten. I just wanted to get her and her sister out of the water.”

    “We got her up on the beach,” Craig Mangum, Lucy’s dad who coincidentally is an ER doctor, said. “And I had Jordan move her hand, and basically the entire lower leg from the mid calf down just sort of filleted…and I was able to see the extent of the wound. It was a pretty significant wound.”

While doctors say Lucy is fine now, she still suffered a 90 percent muscle and tendon tear, which will take months of physical therapy before she will be back to running around again.

Regarding the young girl’s animosity towards the animal that bit her, she first told her parents, “I

hate sharks. I like dolphins way better.”

 The shark had made a mistake, that it really didn’t want to eat her
 her parents explained, Lucy changed her mind.
“I don’t care that the shark bit me,” her mother Jordan Magnum said she told her. “I forgive him.”

Stevie Nicks : Betty Ford Saved My Life.

After news broke last Friday that former first lady Betty Ford had died.One of the first statements CNN received was from Stevie Nicks.The legendary Fleetwood Mac singer sent just one succinct sentence: "As far as I'm concerned, Betty Ford saved my life."

An hour or so later, she followed it up with a phone call - made as she was driving to a Vanessa Carlton concert from her home in Malibu. She was talking on a borrowed phone, since she doesn't own one herself.

Here are excerpts from that 10 minute phone conversation:

"As far as I'm concerned, Betty Ford DID save my life. I went to Betty Ford [The Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California] at the end of 1985 for cocaine addiction. In those days, she would actually come to speak at Betty Ford two or three times a month, so I got to hear her tell the whole story on just the pressure of being in politics, being married to a famous politician and getting addicted to whatever it was she was addicted to.

I thought, 'God, if Betty Ford can come through this, I can come through it, too.' Talk about being famous and being in rehab! 'Oh no, I can't do that, I'm too famous' - well, come on! She was the First Lady of the United States. So that really, really made my need to fix myself even stronger."

"A couple of years ago, I went to Betty Ford to speak and she was there. And I actually got to kind of get down on one knee and talk to her for about five minutes, and she was very, very fragile. And I just looked up at her and I said, 'You've got all these children here for you, and had it not been for you, so many of us would not have gotten well.'

Anyway, she was so lovely, and I don't think she really realized the impact she had on so many lives. Sometimes I don't think truly great people people realize how great they are - and I told her that night. I said, 'If it were not for you, Betty Ford, I would be dead. Absolutely. So all the songs that I have written since I was here, I dedicate to you. All the songs, and all the poems, and the shows and all the amazing things I got to do between 1985 and now is because of you.'"

"Betty Ford was not easy. I call it Betty Ford Boot Camp. And it was not an easy four weeks to go through, and nobody gets any special treatment there. It's hard, but it's kind of brilliant in its hardness. It's kind of what I image it's like to be in the army. There's four dorms, and there's 20 people in each dorm, and everybody has their chores, and everybody keeps that building clean and beautiful, and does dishes, makes coffee, vacuums the carpet - and she just insisted on it. The outside, the grass, the duck pond - that's her facility, and you'd better take care of it.



And it was tough. But two weeks in, you start to think, 'Oh my God, I'm getting better' - because when you first get to Betty Ford, that's basically what they tell you, is that you're dying. And that's not an easy thing to hear."

Cash Cab' taxi hits, kills Vancouver pedestrian

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A replica taxi used in the Canadian version of the TV game show "Cash Cab" struck and killed a pedestrian after finishing production for the day in Vancouver.

Vancouver Police said a 61-year-old man from Surrey, B.C., died in a hospital shortly after being struck by the mock yellow cab late Friday night in the city's Downtown Eastside district. Police did not immediately release the victim's identity.

The accident happened as a producer was driving the replica cab back to a storage facility after filming for the day had been completed, said Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., which produces the show's Canadian version.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family." said Burnstein. "My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team."

Vancouver Police Constable Lindsey Houghton said the circumstances leading to the accident were still being determined and no charges have been filed so far.

On "Cash Cab," broadcast in North America on the Discovery Channel, unassuming people who flag down a replica yellow taxi become instant contestants on a game show, answering trivia questions for cash prizes.

"Cash Cab" originated in Britain in 2005 and has since been licensed to television networks in more than two dozen countries. The Canadian version, hosted by comedian Adam Growe, a licensed taxi driver, has been broadcast by Discovery Channel Canada since 2008.
